Budker Group Highlights of 2016

Prof. Dmitry Budker was awarded the following grants:

  • A European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant of EUR 2.5 million to search for dark matter and dark energy. The funded project is entitled “Experimental Searches for Oscillating and Transient Effects from the Dark Sector”. Read the press release here.
  • An EU-funded grant for the HORIZON 2020 project ULTRACHIRAL (ULTRAsensitive CHIRAL detection by signal-reversing cavity polarimetry), in partnership with JGU Mainz.

Several group members received individual fellowships:

  • Dr. Lykourgos Bougas is a Marie Curie Fellow with funding for the project HEMOTECT (HEMOzoin DeTECTion using nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond). Details can be found here .
  • PhD students Felipe Pedreros Bustos and Anne Fabricant are both Carl Zeiss Fellows. Felipe’s project is “Mesospheric Optical Magnetometry and Optimization of Laser Guide Stars”; Anne’s project is “Atomic Parity Violation in Ytterbium”.
